Charlotte Behrens really lived. She was an up-&-coming stage actress in the late 1800s when, at the age of 32, she died in rather mysterious circumstances. This story tells of how, in the year 2002, I came to "know" Charlotte Behrens, the anti-Victorian Victorian actress.
